Solving the Problems of Problem-Based Learning: Underdeveloped Information-Management Skills

May 10, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Problem-based learning requires students to become researchers, as the ability to collect and organize large amounts information is central to successful problem solving. Of course, these critical information-management skills are not limited to problem-based learning. Students who know how to collect, organize, and make sense of information will be far more successful in today’s information age than the students who lack these skills—no matter what the context.

This webinar, led by expert teacher and coach, Joyce Jackson, is all about helping all students develop the information-management skills and habits associated with the most successful learners. More specifically, Joyce will . . .

  • Explain the difference between note taking and note making, and why it matters so much.
  • Highlight the most important information-management skills and model simple tools that develop each of these skills.
  • Show participants how to help students build their own “information-management toolbox” so that they can collect, organize, and make sense of information on their own.

BONUS: All participants will receive a FREE TOOL plus a set of graphic organizers that help students identify common information structures and organize their learning.
